QA Engineer (manual)

Are You a Detail-Obsessed QA Engineer Who Can Break What Developers Build?
Do you have hands-on experience testing web platforms, admin panels, APIs, and mobile apps on both iOS and Android?
Can you design regression test plans from scratch and execute them methodically across multiple environments?
Do you instinctively ask "what could go wrong here?" every time you look at a feature, and then prove it?
Are you comfortable writing SQL queries to verify data and using Postman to hit APIs?
Do you take ownership of platform quality as if your name were on every release?
Can you communicate bugs clearly and concisely in English, written and spoken, so developers can act immediately?
Are you self-driven enough to work remotely, manage your own testing schedule, and proactively flag risks before they reach production?
If you're skilled at manual testing across web and mobile, have the technical chops to dig deeper than the UI, and care deeply about user experience, we want to hear from you.
About the Role:
We are looking for a technically savvy QA Engineer who will own the quality of our web platform (customer-facing site, admin panel, API) and mobile applications (iOS and Android). Your primary toolkit is manual testing: 80-90% of your time will be spent designing test plans, executing test cases, running regression cycles, and hunting down bugs across browsers and devices. You will work with tools like Postman, MySQL, LambdaTest, and Firebase daily.
What makes this role different from a typical QA position is the breadth of ownership. You will serve as the quality gatekeeper for LIVE, triaging issues reported by support agents, verifying hotfixes, and ensuring every release meets the bar. You will also use analytics tools like GA4 and MS Clarity to monitor real user behavior and detect UI/UX issues before they escalate.
The ideal candidate combines deep manual testing discipline with enough technical fluency to query databases, test APIs, and use analytics tools, while keeping an eye on opportunities to gradually introduce lightweight automation.
Responsibilities:
Manual Testing & Quality Assurance
Design and maintain regression test plans for the web platform and mobile apps (Android, iOS) covering critical user journeys.
Develop, maintain, and execute test cases for customer-facing pages, the admin panel, and API endpoints using Postman.
Run functional testing for every new feature implemented by developers before it reaches production.
Run regression testing for the web platform and mobile applications on demand, including responsive/mobile web.
Test hotfixes and mobile app releases on demand, verifying fixes on LIVE shortly after deployment.
Perform security tests using the OWASP toolset on demand per TLI IT Security Policy.
Run usability tests on the website and mobile applications.
Develop and maintain representative test data in test environments (US/CA/AUS/NZ male users, PH female users).
Platform & Mobile App Quality Gatekeeper
Monitor and respond to issues reported via ADMIN Tech Issues, JIRA (CFP board), and email.
Create and manage tickets in GitLab (tli-source for platform, cf-mobile for mobile app).
Test payments on non-LIVE and LIVE environments according to established process.
Maintain and run regular tests to ensure the customer-facing site and Admin Panel are free from critical bugs (Regression Test Plan CF, Critical Checklist, Payments Regression Test).
Ensure sign-up and payment/subscription flows are bug-free in the CF mobile app.
Regularly check all phone numbers, buttons, and booking links for validity and relevance.
Use LambdaTest to investigate and reproduce issues on specific mobile devices.
Use Apple TestFlight and Google Play Internal Testing to verify and validate new builds.
Regularly analyse Firebase / Crashlytics data to control app stability trends.
AI-Augmented QA Workflow
Use AI tools to improve personal effectiveness in test case generation, bug reporting, and exploratory testing.
Look for opportunities to automate routine testing operations using frameworks such as Playwright.
Constantly grow expertise in AI/LLM trends and apply new knowledge to improve the quality of TLI platforms and apps.
Store and maintain tested prompts in the tli-ai-prompts GitLab repository.
Quality Processes & Communication
Participate in Weekly Code Review Meetings to deepen understanding of platform architecture.
Participate in Weekly Estimation and Planning Meetings to plan testing efforts for upcoming work.
Analyse and report on test results to the Tech Team and stakeholders.
Encourage the Tech Team to comply with established quality processes; escalate to manager when reminders are ignored.
Conduct app demos for relevant stakeholders.
Keep all Test Plans, templates, and troubleshooting documents up to date.
Submit daily reports on accomplishments and plans for the next day.
Qualifications:
AI-Accelerated Development Requirements:
AI Tool Usage: Comfortable using AI assistants (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to boost productivity: generating test cases, drafting bug reports, analysing logs, and exploring test scenarios.
Willingness to Learn: Eager to adopt new AI tools and integrate them into daily QA workflows as they evolve.
Technical Skills:
Manual Testing Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience in manual testing of web applications, admin panels, APIs, and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
Test Planning: Proven ability to design, document, and maintain regression test plans and test cases from scratch.
API Testing: Proficiency with Postman and/or Swagger for API validation and testing.
SQL: Working knowledge of MySQL 8, able to write queries to verify data, investigate bugs, and prepare test data.
Mobile Testing Tools: Experience with LambdaTest (or similar cloud device labs), Apple TestFlight, and Google Play Internal Testing.
Analytics Tools: Familiarity with Google Analytics (GA4), Firebase, Crashlytics, and MS Clarity for monitoring app stability and user behavior.
Bug Tracking & Project Tools: Experience with GitLab (or similar), JIRA, and structured issue reporting.
Security Testing: Basic knowledge of OWASP toolset for web application security testing.
Browser & Device Coverage: Methodical approach to cross-browser and cross-device testing.
Workstation (Mandatory):
Computer: Dedicated personal workstation (not shared, not employer-owned) with sufficient performance for running browsers, emulators, and testing tools.
Audio: USB headset with noise cancellation for clear communication during meetings.
Internet: Stable wired Ethernet connection with minimum 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload.
Backup Internet: A secondary internet connection (mobile hotspot or second ISP) for continuity.
